The Tables Have Turned

"Well, it depends," he mused. "Do you wanna get drunk? Or do you wanna get drunk?"

"Hmm," Addock pursed his lips. "Not sure yet. It'll depend on my mood once we get to your house."

"Well if you wanna get fucked up, I'm more than equipped for it." A few minutes later, gravel crunched underneath the tires, and Stephen pulled into his driveway.

"Come on, let's go to the first sitting room."

"If you don't mind, some help would be nice," Addock said as he carefully stepped out of the car. "I don't know your house."

"I'm sure you'll be fine," he said, grabbing Addock by the arm.  He paused, staring at Maggie.  "...Can't we leave it outside?"

Addock just scoffed. "No, it's too cold. She'll be fine, she won't jump on the furniture, she'll just lay on the floor."

"...I suppose we can put it in the laundry room," he grumbled, wrinkling his nose. "If it bites my butler, I'm suing--you know I will."

"You don't seriously have a butler," Addock replied with only a twinge of doubt in his voice. "Besides, Maddie would never bite someone unless they hurt me. So, as long as you keep your hands to yourself we'll be fine."

"Of course I do--doesn't everyone?" he asked, scrunching up his face. "Worked for me for years. What, are you saying I should just fire the poor bastard so my snooty dog-loving coworker feels more comfortable? How cruel can you be, Addock?"

"No, I was just...you're not fucking with me are you?" he asked incredulously. "You really made that much money, Stephen?"

He squinted at Addock.

"I'm sorry, did you think I was upset over losing my job because I think 'defense attorney' just sounds cooler? On a good year, I made almost twice what I'm making now. You know what this place cost? Lotta zeroes, my friend--six, to be exact."

"I know you made good money, but I didn't realize you made this good of money, is all..." he admitted. "Your house must be really nice, but something like this is impractical for a guy like me. Anyway, let's get settled and drink."

He nodded, leading Addock into the house and only barely resisting the urge to shut the door on the dog. "Don't worry--if you get too drunk, I have a spare bedroom."

"I'll keep that in mind," he chuckled. "Maggie, stay close until we get to where you can lay down, girl."

He snorted, leading Addock to a couch. "Like the stupid thing understands you."

As soon as Addock sat down, Maggie snuggled up next to the couch out of the way, although not before giving Stephen a rather menacing glare.

"Good girl," he praised her with a smile. "So...I'll take whatever you have that's strong."

"How strong? Because I have Barcadi, and that shit comes with a fire safety warning."

Addock grinned at him.

"Sounds perfect. I'll probably make use of your extra room, I hope you don't mind."

He nodded.

"Yeah, whatever--if the dog shits, you're paying for the fucking carpet." He grabbed some Bacardi and a few other bottles from his cabinet and began pouring ingredients into a shaker. "You're not allergic to any shit, are you? Muslims can have chocolate?"

Addock almost choked on his own hair as he sputtered into laughter.

"I'm not a Muslim, just so we're clear. In fact, I'm an atheist, thank you very much," he informed him.

"Oh, well aren't you special? Only two year olds and those with their brains believe in God, dumbass. You just look Muslim--fix it if you don't like it." He shook up the ingredients together and poured the resulting mixture into two shot glasses. He handed one to Addock, and raised the other.

"To getting smashed."

Addock grinned at him before he downed the shot in one big gulp. He cringed momentarily as he waited for it to hit bottom.

"Thanks, Stephen. For everything tonight," he said with a smile. "I really do appreciate it."

He gently punched him in the shoulder. "What'd I fucking do? All I've done so far is pour you a shot. Wait until the first date is over to suck my dick, faggot."

Addock laughed.

"Don't get your hopes up," he teased.

"Oh, so you're not into the sucking, huh? I thought that was a big gay guy thing--ya know, besides the part where you take it in the ass." Though he sounded confident, he shuffled nervously as he went to pour them more shots; he was glad Addock couldn't see him.
