On The Train

"Haha, then you're wearing clothes," he insisted. "Is that wine? I don't drink wine, sorry."

He shook his head. "Sparkling juice--I'm a priest, you know."

He chuckled.

"Better. What kind? I'll drink some either way," he said with a smile.

"Pomegranate," he replied, pouring some into a paper cup. "Interested?"

He reached for a cup.

"Sounds good."

He handed it to him and casually sat down next to him on the bed.

"So. You room with people a lot before, or are you usually on your own?"

"No, I'm usually on my own," he replied. "I, uh...I usually bring trouble to people who travel with me."

"I'm fine so far," he chuckled. "Maybe your luck's about to change."

He laughed, but it was rather half-hearted.

"Yeah, well...I can only hope, right?" he sighed slightly.

"Don't worry. I won't leave. I'm a very persistent bastard, I've been told."

Mars rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, well, the last guy who said that..." he swallowed. "...it didn't end so well for him."

"What, did ya kill him?" he teased. "Just don't get sick of me and I'll be fine, I promise."

He chuckled.

"Yeah, well, we'll see how that goes," he teased back.

"So, you got a girlfriend, or have you been on your own during all these travels?" he pressed. "I know I didn't have one at your age, but that's because I was a slut."

"No, I don't--wait, what?" he asked. "Did you say you were a...slut...?"

"I told you I got into lots of trouble when I was younger, didn't I?" he said with a wink. "I got around far too much."

"W...well, good thing you don't anymore, now that you're a priest and all," he replied with an awkward smile.

"Yeah, I suppose I'm a lot more...choosy about whom I spend my time with." He stretched his arms, yawning.

Mars chuckled.

"Okay, okay, well...it's time for bed, I think," he yawned as well. "Let's go to bed."

He nodded, draining his cup and flopping back onto the bed. "So you've never had a girlfriend?"

"No, I...I'm not really..." he sighed. "It's a long story. But, no, not really."

"Shame. You're good-looking enough--a young man like you should be having fun with the ladies at this point in his life."

Mars laughed.

"God, no," he replied. "That sort of thing...it's not appealing to me."

"Are you into young gentlemen, then?" he asked, raising a brow. "It's perfectly fine if you are, by the way--contrary to popular belief, God isn't the judgiest sort."

"No!" he snapped instantly. "I...can we not talk about this?" he growled irritably.
