"Sleazy" Is Every Lawyer's Middle Name

"If it makes you feel any better, I fucked a woman just yesterday," he replied. "And if you live with me, you can sleep in a separate room on the opposite side of the house. You won't even be able to see me."

He snorted.

"Fine, since you're so insistent on it, I will move in with you," Addock decided, even as he drank more of the wine. "I'm counting on that whole 'never being able to see you' thing, I might add."

"Fine," he replied, smiling slightly and pouring some of the wine for himself. "When can you move in?"

"Tomorrow," he replied. "I've been packing all week. I got rid of most everything. Maggie is going back to the company, though. I'll probably wait to get another guide dog until I'm on my feet."

"You can't keep your godforsaken animal?" he asked, raising a brow. "I thought you loved that thing."

"The firm let me have her, but I'm no longer in their employment, so Maggie goes back to them," he replied. "I don't want to talk about it. Are you planning on helping me move in to your house? Is tomorrow fine?"

"...Yes," he replied, pouring himself more wine. "But what about tonight? I can't imagine your house is comfortable, if you have everything packed..."

Addock wanted to say no, but at this point he decided he just didn't care.

"Sure, why not?" he replied, leaning back in his chair.

"I'll just drive you home, you can borrow my pajamas." He nodded, reassuring himself of the validity of his logic. "Yes, that's what we'll do."

Addock snorted, knowing the obvious conclusion of the night.

"Yeah, sure. I don't think you're clothes will fit me."

"Then don't wear any," he replied. "I don't care, I guess--you're a guest and all, anyway."

"Yeah, you wish," he replied, scoffing. "I'll just sleep in my clothes."

He scoffed.

"You're wearing jeans--at least accept my pajamas, come on."

Addock sighed.

"Fine, whatever," he replied. "Are we leaving soon?"

"Are you done eating?" he asked. "You've barely eaten a thing all night."

"I'm really not hungry," he replied honestly.

"Then let's go," he said, waving a waiter over to ask for the check. "I don't know about you, but I'm...exhausted."

"Why are you exhausted?" He demanded, frowning.

"All this talking is wearing me out," he lied, stretching and slapping a hundred dollar bill onto the table. "Besides, didn't you want to leave? Let's go."

"Yeah yeah," he stood up, grabbing Stephen's arm. "You drank less, guide me."

Stephen smiled slightly at the contact, and led Addock through the parking lot with unusual care.

"Here's the car," he said gently, placing his hand on the door.

"Must've drank more than I thought," he replied, shrugging off the strange gentleness. He sat down in the car, sighing. "Just hurry up."

"Why're you in such a hurry?" he teased as he started the car. "Something at my house you can't wait to get?"

"Yeah, a bed so I can sleep," he replied, stretching out in the car.

"Mine's the best in the whole house, you know. You're welcome to share it again." He laughed, even though he wasn't entirely joking.
