Church Bells

"Who cares, anymore?" He snapped. "I've sinned enough just last night to send three men to hell."

He laughed.

"Yes, three men who rejected Jesus Christ."

"...According to what you believe." He replied simply. "But I don't care about that."

"So you reject Christ?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I only reject your beliefs." He sighed heavily. "What does it matter? I can't be a priest anymore, anyway. I have nothing left, now..."

"That's funny--it sounds like you're rejecting perseverance." The corners of his mouth twitched into a small smile.

"What are you talking about?" He snapped irritably.

"You're going to quit your occupation because you fulfilled a human need," he said slowly. "Does that mean that if I eat, I should also quit my job?"

"It's not the same thing." He insisted. "I shouldn't have given in...I'm so weak."

"You're weak for quitting now," he said simply. "Last night wasn't about cowardice, but right now that's all I see in you."

He sighed heavily, leaning against the wall.

"...I don't understand you. You talk as if you actually believe what you're saying."

He smiled.

"Is it normal for people to lie, and preach falsities? Funny, I don't remember that being part of a priest's job description."

"...If you're talking about me, I'll have you know that I mean every word I say."

"Then why are you surprised that I do the same?"

He frowned, realizing his point.

"...You still don't make any sense to me." He ran his hand through his hair again. "Now get out so I can shower in peace."

'What if I want a shower too?" he asked, leaning against the wall.

"Wait your turn." He replied simply.

"But it's so much more efficient if I join--wastefulness is a sin, you know."

He pinched the bridge of his nose.

"...Just don't touch me." He said, giving in.

Priestly grinned.

"But I can scrub your back."

"No. I don't trust you." He grumbled, turning on the shower and stepping inside.

"It's not my fault you have a sexy back."

He flushed red as he pulled his hair out of it's usual ponytail.

"You be quiet." He said, embarrassed.

"You don't like hearing the truth?" he said with a wink.

"S-stop." He insisted, embarrassed.
