Priestly Goes To The Blind Store And Makes A Purchase

It was a routine mission. Demon hunting as usual; nothing was supposed to go wrong. But somehow, everything went wrong.

Mars watched as Priestly laid in bed; the doctor said there was nothing wrong. Nothing unusual. He said that sometimes these things just happened. He left Mars and Priestly to figure out what had happened.

He couldn't help but feel responsible, in some ways. Priestly was blind now, and it had to be partially his fault, didn't it? He had no idea what went wrong...But he should have done something more than he did.

He sighed heavily, waiting for Priestly to wake up again so he could help him. It had only been a few hours since Priestly had been released from the hospital.

Priestly opened his eyes, staring blankly into nowhere. That was just what he saw, too; nothing and nowhere, only gaping blackness. He blinked several times, just to make sure his eyes could even still open.

He sighed deeply to himself.

"This isn't so bad, old buddy. You've seen worse than this, right? No need to be afraid just yet, need to stay strong for Marsy. You can do it--keep a stiff upper lip, as the British would say, right?" He thought aloud to himself, not realizing Mars was also in the room.

Upon realizing this, Mars tried to quietly leave. However, his chair make a conspicuous noise as he stood up, and he panicked.

"U-uh, o-o-oh, you're awake now, Priestly..." He said, trying to pretend as if he had just come into the room.

Priestly sat up, looking in the wrong direction.

"Mars? Where am I? I thought you went home."

"We are home." He explained quietly. "Uh, I...the doctors..."

He wasn't sure what to say.

"...Uhm."

"I'm blind, right?" he asked cheerily, stretching. He tried to look nonchalant as he banged his hand on the bedside table. "I'm assuming that because I can't see."

Mars gently moved his hand away from the table.

"There...Be careful." He chastised, somewhat gently. "Are you...hungry or anything?"

"A little," he said, groping for the covers and throwing them off. "Which way's the kitchen? I'll go grab myself something."

"N-no!" He said, nearly shoving Priestly back down onto the bed. He frowned slightly. "I mean...Just don't push yourself. I can get it, so don't worry."

He laughed.

"We're at my house, right? I should be fine."

"No." Mars replied sternly. "I don't want you to get hurt or something, okay? So, just, let me do it."

He blew a kiss in in entirely the wrong direction.

"Mars, who's the adult here? This is my house, and I've lived here for years--it's really not that big of a deal. I'll be fine, I can take care of myself."

"I'll kiss you if you be good and don't get up." Mars lied. Obviously, he wasn't going to, but it might get Priestly to listen.

"Do it now and I'll lay down, " he replied cheerily.

"No, I'll do it afterwards because I want to make sure you won't get up." He said, which was actually more or less the truth this time.

"No deal," he laughing, searching for the floor with his foot.

He forced Priestly back onto the bed, giving him a kiss on the forehead.

"There." He replied. "I never said where I would kiss you, anyway, so don't you dare complain."

Priestly smiled and sat on his bed as requested.

"Can you get me a drink of water? I'm parched."

"Don't you dare move." He said sternly, moving out of the room to get a glass of water. A few moments later, he returned.

Priestly reached out his hand in entirely the wrong direction.

"Mars, may I have my water now?"

Mars gentle guided his hands to where the glass was, and made sure he had a grip before he let go.

"There."

Priestly took a sip, spilling most of the water all over himself in the process.

"...Ah." He laughed, shaking his head. "My, I'm a klutz."

Mars took the water back from him, setting it on the nightstand.

"Now you have to change." He chastised. "Take off your shirt, so I can get you a dry one."

Priestly stripped quickly; that was an activity he had done blind many times.

"Where should I put it?" he asked, holding it out. "It's really not that big of a deal, Mars--at least I feel refreshed." He smiled at his own joke, hoping he was smiling at Mars; in reality, he was smiling at Mars's left shoulder.

Mars took the shirt from him and tossed it into a pile of laundry, handing him the new shirt he had taken from Priestly's closet.

"Put it on, and don't drink any more water." He instructed. Without being able to stop himself, he yawned. That was right; he hadn't slept much the past few days.
