Start of Something New

Blair couldn't help but smile widely. He hadn't actually expected that to work so well. He had definitely thought it would get Yuri all riled up, but this was actually way more than he had expected. It was also way more adorable than he had expected, and that posed a slight problem. It as true he really liked Yuri already, but it wouldn't do well to get too attached so soon.

"Well, if you're to believe my friends, my favorite genres of music are 'rock' and 'rap', but if you really wanna know, I prefer showtunes." He admitted, smiling to himself. "Oh, but, uh, don't tell anyone. I know, I know, you won't, but I just want to be extra clear."

He coughed, embarrassed that he even said it. But he had promised himself he would.

"A-anyway, Gwen Stefani? What else do you like?"

"Yeah, I guess I like some showtunes--I haven't really watched many musicals. No one to watch 'em with." Yuri pressed play, and Gwen Stefani's voice came blasting out of his speakers. He sat back down next to Blair, swaying in time to the music and mouthing some of the words.

"'This love is serious'...huh? What do I like? Um, I dunno--all the Satan crap aside, I guess I really like sewing. I make dolls and blankets and stuff when I get bored. It's a hobby. I also like reading novels and stuff--fantasy and romance are cool. And I, um...like porn, I guess? I'm a teenage guy. I surf the internet, jerk off, listen to music, watch movies--same as anyone else, only with less friends." He laughed again, though it sounded a little more awkward.

Blair smiled at Yuri's bluntness. It was refreshing, honestly.

"Having friends really isn't everything you think it is." He replied honestly, fiddling with the ties on his shorts. "But, you like sewing? You should show me something you've sewn."

He tried his hardest not to stare at Yuri, but it was fairly difficult when he really liked him already. It wasn't even particularly that he liked Yuri, but more that he liked that Yuri wasn't his friends. He was a completely different entity. It was really nice, and he knew he'd end up coming back more than he should. Luckily, he had begun training his powers so that he could be perfectly in two places at once.

Yuri smiled innocently at Blair, completely oblivious to his thoughts. Sure, Blair was turning out to be really weird, but he seemed harmless enough. Maybe he was even a relatively nice person.

He pointed first to the bedspread, then to the curtains.

"I sewed these sheets and those curtains. It was just something to do after school, but they turned out nice. I really like pink." He stood up, stretching; he wasn't used to sitting in one place for so long at home. He crossed the room to his pink dresser.

"I'm gonna change into some PJs--you don't mind, right? They're way more comfy than this stupid trash I wear to school. I'd honestly wear pajamas to school if I didn't know people'd mess with me more."

Blair stood up the moment Yuri mentioned the word 'change'. It was a natural reflex, so he almost second guessed himself before he realized that it would most definitely be a good idea for him to wait outside. It would end their friendship fairly quickly if anything unfortunate was to happen while he was over.

"I'll wait outside your room." He replied, already heading for the door. "...actually, I'll go to the bathroom, which door is it?"

Yes, now even if Yuri was skeptical of his reason for leaving the room, he had the excuse of the bathroom. Genius.

"Oh," said Yuri, frowning. "I was gonna change in there, but I guess I'll just change here then. I'll be quick, I promise." He grabbed a pair of hot pink fleece pajama pants and his beloved, much-too-large Marilyn Monroe shirt.

"Bathroom's down the hall, second door to the left. If you hit a room that smells like patchouli and typewriter ink, you've gone too far and hit my parents' room." He pulled off his gaudy, striped arm warmers, looking thoughtful.

"How long're you gonna be here? You gonna want dinner? I can make us something soon, if you want."

He looked at his phone to check the time. Naturally, he had about 15 messages from his obnoxious schoolfriends. He supposed it was almost dinner time.

"Actually, I should really go home soon." He replied, looking incredibly reluctant. "Before my brother comes home and wonders where I've been."

He really didn't want to leave, though. It was tempting to make an excuse, but he knew he'd be back soon enough.

"But...if you don't mind, I'd like to come over again soon." He blushed slightly. "...if that's okay with you."

"Um, I guess?" he said honestly, looking a little confused. "If you want. I'll see you later--Blair, right?"

Having removed all his jewelry, he pulled off his shirt, revealing the thin, delicate frame beneath. Yuri possessed a pallor befitting one who didn't spend too much time outdoors; his veins were visible in some areas on his arms, and his pink nipples stood out obviously against his white chest.

He reached for his pajama shirt without thinking much of it.

"Was nice talking to you, I think. I don't talk to people much, so I'm not the best judge," he chortled. He glanced at the phone in Blair's hand.

"Oh. Want my number, too? You can text and stuff, I don't mind."

Blair awkwardly stared at his phone, avoiding looking at Yuri.

"Sure, just give me your number, then." He replied, fiddling with his phone. If he avoided looking at him, it would all work out. Or at least, he was convinced of that.

"Lemme just enter it," he said, dropping his shirt and holding out his hand. "You can put your number in my phone--here." He pulled a cute pink flip-phone out of his pants pocket and held it out.

"You can text whenever you want, too--though I dunno if you'll even want to. I mean, it's fine either way, I'm just really always available. I mean, what's going to keep me busy? It's not like anyone else texts me besides my parents, even then just sometimes when they're gonna be home late. If they remember."

He grabbed Yuri's phone, smiling slightly at the color. He entered his number, along with a select few other things about him, namely his birthday and his email address.

"You can text me too, so don't worry about it." He replied, making sure to save his information before he held out Yuri's phone for him to take. "I might not answer, though, 'cause it'll probably get lost in the sea of other texts from other, more annoying friends of mine."

Yuri handed Blair his phone back, having entered his name, number and not much else. Blair could just ask his birthday if he wanted to know it, right? But glancing at the new entry in his phone, he felt the blood rush to his face.

"...Oh. I should probably add more, I'm sorry--I figured you really just wanted my number."

"Huh?" He asked, confused for a second. "Oh, no, that's fine. I'm just...I'm used to adding stuff, 'cause, girls always insist on me adding, like, my birthday and crap."

He waved his hand. "It's fine, don't worry about it. Anyway, I'll...Can I come over again tomorrow?"

He looked hopeful, perhaps more than he knew he should.

He nodded.

"Yeah, sure, I guess--if you want. I'm not much fun, though. I'll uh, see you at school. Maybe." He shrugged. "Well, if you're leaving, I'm gonna go watch some porn. Not like I got much else to do. Night, Blair."

It would be a few months before anything really major happened in Blair and Yuri's relationship. The next big event wasn't a pretty one, either.

It was bad enough that his friends hounded him about his eye, since it was actually so bad that he had a large bandage over it, but he had to face Yuri with it. He had already promised to come over, and they were going to watch a really bad horror movie together and it was going to be great.

So, when he finally made it to Yuri's house, he attempted to shield the left part of his face as much as possible.

Yuri opened the door with a bright smile; when he saw Blair, it completely faded away.

"Why are you hiding your eye?" he asked, staring. When Blair didn't answer, he grabbed him by the arm and pulled him inside, locking and bolting the door. He dragged him into the couch, hurrying to the bathroom; he almost tripped on his pink pajama pants as he ran.

"I'll grab the first aid kit, don't worry--we always keep it well stocked!"

"No!" He groaned. "It's fine, I already got it checked out at the doctor!"

He stood up and grabbed Yuri's arm, stopping him. "It's not a big deal, I, uh, tripped is all."

He cleared his throat. Blair was usually such a good liar, what had happened?

"I just wanted to, you know, watch the movie and hang out is all."

"Yeah, but who cares?" he said, raising an eyebrow in disbelief. "Someone beat you up--who did it? You can tell me, Blair--what am I possibly gonna do. Who can I tell?"

He looked down, growing silent in the way he usually did whenever his family was brought up.

"It was just something stupid, it happens sometimes, it's just...none of your business." He replied, swallowing down the anxious lump in his throat. He hated being this way to Yuri. "And you aren't going to tell anyone, alright? Ever."

He crossed his arms, biting his lip. He really hoped Yuri dropped the subject.

"It wasn't someone at school, right?" he said, squinting. "No, no--you're too popular. So it's a gang or someone you know. But you ride the bus home, and live in a nice neighborhood..." His eyes widened.

"Blair, you have to tell me the truth right now, okay? Don't even think about lying. Did your dad hit you?" He leaned over Blair, forcing him to make eye contact.

"If you lie, I'll never forgive you, so tell me now." He chest was awkwardly close to Blair's face, but he was too preoccupied to notice.

"It was my fucking brother, okay?" He shoved Yuri away, covering his eye again. He was just glad the bandage was still covering most of it. It was so massive, though, that a large portion of it wasn't covered.

He looked frustrated, but he didn't say anything else on the matter. He just gritted his teeth and hoped Yuri left him alone. He really hated to even think about Kyle, and he certainly didn't want to admit that the reason he hadn't forced Kyle to stop beating on Yuri was because he couldn't even stop Kyle from beating on him.

After a moment, Yuri did the first thing that occurred to him; he pulled Blair into a hug. For the first time, he noticed how nice Blair smelled, a hint of good aftershave. It was an oddly relaxing scent.

"We have ice cream in the fridge," he said simply. "Three kinds. And there's good stuff for dinner in the fridge, though I dunno how to cook with most of it--and we have a movie. Want me to get the ice cream while you put in the DVD?"

Blair furrowed his eyebrows. As glad as he was that Yuri hadn't pressed the subject, he had fully expected him to. He adjusted his position.

"Let me see what's in the fridge." He replied, somewhat more quiet than he usually was.

He nodded, adjusting his shirt; it had slipped, exposing one of his shoulders.

"I'll put the DVD in--you know where the fridge is. Bring back the ice cream you wanna share and a spoon, okay?" He moved to the DVD case, not so much as glancing at Blair again. He knew what it felt like to be hassled about injuries like that; remembering was always the worst part. He couldn't even imagine how horrible it would feel with family involved.

He moved into the kitchen, carefully removing the bandage. It was beginning to peel off anyway, but mostly he was just sick of it over his eye. It was swollen shut and he couldn't see anything out of it, which he had expected. It was really unsightly. He just prayed it didn't scar. He quite liked his face the way it had been.

He grabbed the ice cream and he also grabbed a plastic bag to put some ice in, placing it on his eye. It stung, but he hoped it helped. He rooted through the fridge, but most of it were things even he wasn't in the mood to cook.

He brought back the ice cream and a spoon, handed it to Yuri so he could adjust the ice on his eye.
