I Never Break Promises

He smiled.

"Yes. I'm not as hungry as you, though, I'm sure. Did you mention you had something to tell me or something?"

He blinked, then nodded, closing the door behind them.

"Oh, yeah, I totally do! I meant to tell you that you're not the only one." He walked into the kitchen and rummaged through the freezer for the pack of pizza bites.

"Found 'em!" he exclaimed victoriously, holding up the package.

He frowned deeply.

"Wait, what...? What are you talking about?" He asked, following him into the kitchen.

"You said you liked other guys, right?" he asked, ripping open the package and dumping the pizza bites onto a baking sheet.

"W-well, yeah, I do..." He mumbled, a bit embarrassed to admit it, still. "W-wait, then, what you wanted to tell me was...? You too?"

He nodded, smiling bashfully.

"Well...yeah," he said, setting the oven to preheat. "I kinda always really liked guys, so...is that okay? With you, I mean? I can stop if it's weird." Of course, Tristan knew he couldn't, but he'd at least try for Inge. They were best friends, after all.

"But...why would I have a problem with it? It's not weird...I don't think?" He laughed quietly. "It's fine. It actually makes me kind of feel better..."

His smile widened.

"I'm really happy, then--you know I love you, bro."

"Oh. You mean like..." He mumbled. "Like a brother, right?"

He shook his head, still smiling. "No, more! I'd do anything for you bro--though I hope you don't mind that I still have to take care of my family and stuff, but I'll always be there if you need me."

"No, it's fine..." He smiled softly. "I get it. Uhm. Let's just watch that movie."

"Aw yeah!" he said, grinning. "You wanna use the big TV or the one in my room?"

"Let's...stay in your room." He replied, blushing slightly. Totally no ulterior motives.

"Sweet, it's in the DVD player," he said, pulling Inge along. Once they were inside, he picked him up and tossed him on the bed.

"So, do you uh, like anyone? Like, other boys."

He giggled, sitting up.

"Oh, uhm...I don't like anyone, actually. Oh, that reminds me! I had something to ask you..."

"Yeah?" he asked, sitting down next to him on the bed and pressing play on the remote.

"Well...I was just...wondering what happens if we both get really old and no one is ever interested in us?" He said, frowning. "What do we do then?"

"Gee," he said, furrowing his brow. "I dunno. What's the answer?"

"I just...I don't wanna be alone forever, and you're the only friend I had...I...I was thinking about what if, when we get older, and if we don't have anyone but each other, what if we...get...together?" He mumbled awkwardly, fiddling with his hair.

"We're already together," he said, pulling him into a hug. "See? Best buds--and we'll be best buds forever. We promised, right?"

He squirmed out of his arms.

"No, I mean...! Like...what if...we start dating...?" He replied. "Like...if that ever happens?"

He blushed blinking.

"Oh, you mean, like...like more than friends, right? Like uh, boyfriends, I guess? If we're both boys, are we still boyfriends, or are we something else? Or does one of us have to be a girlfriend? If someone has to be the girlfriend, I can do it if you don't want to."

He just stared at him, unsure of what he should even say. It was absurd.

"Uhm...how about we worry about that if it ever happens?" He asked, clearing his throat. "But does this mean you agree...?"

"Agree with what? To being your girlfriend? Of course I'd do it to make you happy, even if I'm a guy." He pulled Inge into another hug.

"You sure ask silly questions sometimes~"

He smiled, hugging him back.

"Then...I'll be sure to remember this, okay?" He replied quietly.
