Who Ya Gonna Call?!

He looked down.

"...I don't have a family at all, anymore."

"Then let me be your family," said Priestly, holding him close.

He frowned.

"...I really don't think you understand familial love."

He laughed.

"Lovers count as family~ They become a part of you."

"But I don't...I don't want that!" He insisted.

"Then what do you want?" he asked, interested.

"I just want...A friend." He said, sounding very lonely.

"Lovers can be friends, too," he said softly, squeezing Mars in his arms.

"But I don't want a lover..." He mumbled unconvincingly.

He kissed Mars's hand.

"Why not?"

"Because! I don't..." He sighed heavily.

"So you want a friend with benefits?" he asked, unimpressed.

"That's terrible! I don't want anything more than friendship at all!" Mars insisted.

"But friendship can't cure loneliness~" he cooed.

"...I just don't want you touching me." He said.

"Why? Are my hands dirty?" he asked, unamused. "You believe you're holier than me?"

"I just don't want you to!" He felt terrible, but if Priestly stopped touching him, then he would stop feeling so attracted to him, right?

He grinned.

"Even if I touched diseased whores and washed my hands in the gutter everyday, my hands would still be cleaner than yours."

Mars looked truly shocked.

"What is that supposed to mean!?"

"Do you really love the Lord? Or do you just want his power to help you achieve your own means? Is that all I am to you--another step to your ultimately selfish goals?" His voice was cold, and he watched Mars's expression carefully.

He just stared.

"...I...The first..." He couldn't even think of what to say.

But, no, Mars was indeed devoted to God for all the right reasons, even if he was somewhat mislead. However, his feelings for Priestly were a bit complicated. Not quite as...pure.

"You see, I follow God for pure reasons, I do his work...he loves me for it. And so, my hands are always clean. But not clean enough for you, it would seem..."

Mars stood up.

"...I'm going for a walk."

Priestly only smiled.

"Don't take too long--breakfast should be ready by the time you get back."

"Don't count on it." He grumbled.
