WHY WAS IT SO HARD TO NAME THIS GUY

"I wonder whose fault that is."

"Young ladies', for wearing dresses."

He smiled wryly.

"I'm going to sleep now, Vani."

"Feed me first, please!" she exclaimed, rolling in his general direction. "And I need help putting on my jammies. And I should probably sleep with you so you can keep me from rolling out."

He picked her up and set her on the couch.

"I'll feed you, but you can stay unclothed and sleep on the couch until you're ready to apologize."

"Sorry," she said immediately. "I'm going to freeze if you leave me out here all night with no clothes or limbs."

He retrieved some blood from the container and handed it to Vani.

"Drink."

Holding the packet in her mouth, she tried unsuccessfully to bite it open.

He chuckled and opened it for her, then offered it back.

"Here. You're welcome."

She sucked it dry in seconds, spitting it out onto the couch.

"More, please!"

He dug in the fridge, frowning.

"We're almost out."

She frowned, looking genuinely worried.

"But I need more to heal..."

He nodded.

"It will have to wait until tomorrow. I'll give you the last two packets."

She frowned.

"...Can't I drink from you, too?"

"We aren't compatible." He said without even stopping to think about it.

"Then bring me someone," she demanded.

"I'll have to make a trip out again, without you."

She sighed deeply, staring at the floor.

"...If I don't drink enough blood, I won't heal right."

"...Well, this isn't my fault, is it?" He said after a brief pause. "I'll be back."

Sighing deeply, Vani nodded.

"...I'll be here. Waiting. All night."

"I won't be long." At least, he hoped he wouldn't be long. He had a certain, ahem, deal with the supplier of her blood, and often, things got messy with him.

"I hope my heart doesn't give out from loneliness!" she called.

Luckily, he only took about half an hour to retrieve a large amount of blood packets. He returned, shutting the door behind him.

"I'm sorry I was gone for so long."

Vani was face-down on the floor in front of the couch, unmoving.

He picked her up, setting her on the couch. When he finished that, he opened a blood packet.

"Vani, can you drink?"
