Church Bells

A few minutes later, many loud, tortured screams echoed throughout the church.

It was horrible, but Mars managed to eat without being disturbed. Mainly because as long as he didn't have to lift a finger, he felt more relaxed. No matter what terrible screams he heard.

A little later, priestly walked back into the room, a swagger in his step.

"Problem fixed."

He smiled.

"Thank you. You can leave now." He sipped his tea.

"Sure--where's your house?"

He nearly spat out his tea.

"Excuse me?" He demanded.

"I;m sticking with you, buddy!" he said brightly.

He furrowed his eyebrows.

"Don't call me that. Also, no, you aren't." He told him sternly. "Why would you even want to stick around in the first place?"

"because you're overworked and in need of a partner, my turtle dove," he said simply. "Now where are we crashing, your place or mine?"

"Don't call me that, either. And no, I don't need a partner! I'm fine on my own! I like it!"

Of course, that was a total lie, but he hoped Priestly would buy it and just leave.

"You may not want a partner, but even a blind child can see that you need one," he said simply, sitting down across from Mars.

Mars set down his tea.

"I don't need anything. I'm perfectly happy." He said stubbornly.

"But I insist--don't make me convince you," he said rather seriously.

"Ha!" He snorted. "You couldn't even if you wanted to."

With that, Priestly shifted into Mars's lap.

"Let me stay with you before I do something we won't regret until the morning after."

Immediately, he shoved Priestly off of him.

"What do you think you're doing?!" He exclaimed, his entire face turning a nice shade of red.

"Convincing you," he said with a smile. "It seems to be working."

"What is that supposed to mean?!" He demanded angrily. "If this is you're idea of 'convincing' me it's definitely not working! All I'm 'convinced' of is that you're some sort of heathen!"

"Ah, but God loves me, so all is well," he sat, sitting in Mars's lap again. This time he gripped the chair so he couldn't escape.

"Get off of me!" He hissed, but he couldn't continue to look at Priestly considering how red his face had gotten again. "This is...untoward!"

"We're both men of God--I'm sure you won't do anything perverted," he purred.

"I'm not worried about me!" He snapped defensively.

"Oh, don't worry--my soul is fine," he said cheerily.

He glared.

"Then get OFF my lap!" He barked.

"Not until you become my partner. Or, you know, get hard."
