Meet The Family

He snorted, almost inhaling his potatoes.

"God, why? You don't even like chicks, do you?"

He paused frowning.

"You didn't know?"

"Well, you certainly enjoyed scaring them away from me for the entire time we were in the army." He rolled his eyes. "God, you make no sense."

He chuckled.

"Well, yeah--I was their boss. Though I did sleep with a few..."

"What?! Why wasn't I allowed to sleep with them, then!" He asked angrily.

He laughed.

"They had jobs to do and I was sleeping with you~ Though besides that, they were actually pretty free to do what they wanted--maybe they just didn't like you."

He pouted.

"I don't believe that at all. Everyone likes me. Even you like me."

He giggled.

"But I like lots of people~"

"So?! I know for a fact they liked me!" He snapped, actually somewhat serious for once.

Marius pulled Hagen into his arms, kissing him on the cheek. He blushed as he released him; he wasn't normally so forward, but he had been so happy since Hagen had moved in. It felt like they were finally becoming a real couple.

"I really love you," he purred gently, lightly patting his beloved on the rear.

Rather predictably, Hagen just stood there.

"I don't like it here." He said plainly. "I don't know anyone, and your house is...too nice."

"Too nice?" he asked, laughing nervously. "Is that...possible? I thought everyone liked nice things--besides, I'm nowhere near royalty." He smoothed back his hair, glancing at the kitchen.

"...You want a snack? Let me make you a snack, Hagen."

"I'm not hungry." He said, pouting. He moved to sit down on one of Marius's chairs, sighing deeply. "I'll be happy when I'm home."

"...But this is your home now," he said quietly, badly hiding his hurt.

He rolled his eyes.

"My brother will want me home eventually. He only sent me here because he's mad at me." He replied bluntly. "Why the hell would I want to live with you?"

He twiddled his fingers awkwardly.

"Well...I assumed you were here because, you know. Because you love me."

He just gave him a look.

"Really." He said dryly. "Well that's fuckin' dumb. I don't love you."

He had, however, avoided eye contact the second he said 'love' and turned away. Silly Hagen.

"But you always said that during those nights in my tent...when I would pleasure you." He reached out to touch Hagen's face.

Hagen moved away before he could.

"The war is over, things are different now."

He frowned deeply, moving into a more defensive posture.

"...Oh." He expression soured, and he crossed his arms. "I had thought that we had something, is all."

Hagen bit his lip momentarily.

"I never said I enjoyed fuckin' dudes, you know. I said I wanted to try it."

This was the truth. What follows, isn't.

"We don't have anything, except maybe some sort of weird, fucked up friendship, okay? So, whatever the hell you think we have, we don't."

His face brightened again.

"You like me as a friend?"

"Hardly." Hagen took out a pack of cigarettes and lit one. "Don't push it."

Marius snatched the cigarette from him, shaking his head.

"Those'll kill you, Hagen--besides, not in the house. I've spent my life trying to evade my childhood asthma, I'll have you know."

Hagen grumbled and stood up, heading for the door.

"Fine, I'll do it outside. At least I'll be away from you." He said plainly.
