I'll Be The Hero!

Bera, however, just stared at him for a second. Then, he burst into tears, sobbing into his hands.

"I'M SO SORRY, HIRO." He sobbed suddenly.

His eyes widened, and he immediately raced to Bera's aid, pulling him into a warm, gentle embrace.

"W-what's wrong?!"

Sniffling, he pushed Hiro away.

"NO, don't touch me! You'll become a FAILURE like I am! The FAILURE will rub off on you and you are a NICE MAN."

"No," he consoled, "I don't think you're a failure--all you are is beautiful. I wish some of your grace would rub off on me, Bera."

He sobbed more, curling into a ball.

"NO! I am such a FAILURE! I should just DIE!!"

Then, he sat up and grabbed Hiro by the collar.

"I know, you can kill me! Out of pity!"

He shook his head immediately.

"No, I love you! You can't be a failure--you won my love!"

He sniffled slightly.

"Y-you love me, H-hiro...?"

He nodded eagerly.

"You're not Bera, right? I love you anyway--you're adorable and cute and you've captured my heart and I just want to make you stop crying. That's what love is~ What's your name?"

"B-Blakely..." He mumbled, smiling slightly. "I-I'm Blakely..."

He pulled Blakely into a warm hug.

"Then it's okay, Blakely...you're not a failure, and I love you. Do you want to get some ice cream?"

He nodded.

"W-will you carry me...~?" He asked meekly.

Hiro smiled and scooped him up in his arms, kissing his forehead.

"Of course~ Are you cold, at all?" he asked, carrying him in the direction of his favorite ice cream parlor. "We could also get something warmer than ice cream, if you like."

He nodded.

"S-something warm...would be nice, actually...~"

"Okay!" he exclaimed, nuzzling Blakely and changing direction slightly.

"Do you prefer pancakes or waffles or pie?"

He sniffled miserably.

"I-it doesn't matter, I'm sure I'll just make a mess and be a FAILURE."

He kissed his cheek.

"No, you'll be cute and covered with whipped cream and syrup~ And I'll have to clean you up, like in those movies."

"No!" He shrieked, flailing about. "I'M GOING TO ACCIDENTALLY KILL YOU!"

He moved his head out of the way of Blakely's flailing limbs.

"Yes, maybe, if you're not still."

He stopped, sobbing into Hiro's chest.

"I HATE MYSELF I'M SO SORRY!"

He rubbed his back comfortingly, still walking.

"It's okay...don't hate yourself, I love you--I'll even have sex with you to prove it."

He shrieked and flailed about again.

"WHY WOULD YOU EVER DO THAT?! ARE YOU SUICIDAL?!"

He shook his head, holding Blakely so he couldn't move.

"No, because I love you and want to show it! Look--if I survive, will you believe you aren't a dangerous failure?"

He shook his head.

"No, no! Never! I can't take that risk! I like you and I'm just a failure, so anything you do will just make things worse for yourself! I don't even know why you're bothering with me!"

Frowning deeply, Hiro held him closer.

"We're getting some pie. Then I'm taking you to a hotel."

He shook his head.

"P-please, don't! I don't want you getting hurt!"
